Every child is different and so is his or her learning journey

Our approach to learning puts the growth of each individual child at the heart of schooling. Schools in the Diocese of Parramatta are places of wonder, exploration and endless possibilities. Cerdon welcomes and truly values each student in our diverse and multicultural learning community.

Each child’s unique strengths and needs guide the design of the learning opportunities we provide to our students. We provide both learning support and learning enrichment as needed.

After all, learning how to learn is equally important as what we learn!

Student Learning Devices

Students are required to bring a personal learning device as part of their education. At Cerdon College, teachers use a blended approach to learning, which combines face-to-face teaching with a sensible approach to using technology to supplement classroom learning.

The aim is to make technology use in the classroom as ingrained as possible, as digital content helps with differentiating the curriculum and personalising learning for students.

Supporting Learning

Our inclusive approach to support means working with teachers, parents and other professionals to facilitate development of a student’s academic program at the appropriate level. In conjunction with class teachers, we assist students in the classroom by explaining tasks and providing individual support. Significant time is invested in meeting with teachers to impart information about students, plan programs and provide strategies to help students achieve their best in each subject.

We also use intervention programs such as Extending Mathematical Understanding (EMU). Cerdon students who have been identified as at risk with their numeracy work with a specialist teacher in groups of only three students at a time. Activities used target the groups’ needs to improve their confidence with mathematics.

Endless Possibilities with Learning Partners

Our learning approach makes a welcome space for parents, carers and other valued partners to engage with our learners in a deeply personalised, anywhere, anytime approach to learning.

As part of a system of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Parramatta, we also benefit from formal agreements with many institutions that form a wide network of strategic relationships and collaborations to advance research, teaching and innovation in Catholic schools across Greater Western Sydney.
