This morning, Cerdon College warmly welcomed mothers and maternal figures from across our community for our 2026 Mother’s Day Mass. Celebrated by Father Jeremy in the Chavoin Hall, the liturgy was a beautiful and prayerful celebration of the important role mothers and maternal figures play in our lives. It was heartwarming to see so many students gathered alongside their mothers and loved ones as a school community united in gratitude and faith. A particularly moving part of the Mass was the personal student testimonies, where students shared why their mum or maternal figure is so special to them. These reflections touched the hearts of many parents in attendance. The celebration also featured a special photo slideshow of mothers and daughters, accompanied by the choir’s beautiful rendition of The Prayer, creating a truly memorable and emotional moment for all present. We thank all families who attended and helped make the celebration such a blessed and meaningful occasion for our community.

Cerdon College is incredibly proud of Year 9 student Chantelle Ranjan, who has had an exceptional cricket season. Chantelle was recently named NSW Brewers Premier Cricket Player of the Year (2025/2026) - a remarkable honour. She also received Women’s Player of the Year for Sydney University Cricket Club and the prestigious Kate Blackwell Award. To cap off her success, Chantelle has been selected in the Cricket NSW Under 15s pathway program for the second consecutive year. Well done Chantelle!👏👏👏

Over four days last week, a group of Year 8 and 9 students took part in the Girls’ Day Out in STEM Flex-a-thon. This hackathon-style event encouraged students to showcase their creativity, critical thinking, and technology skills while working through a series of engaging challenges. The girls were involved in developing innovative projects, including avatars, chatbots, and even a homework helper. It was fantastic to see their collaboration, problem-solving, and growing confidence in STEM throughout the event. Well done girls!

Biomechanics Excursion USYD A group of year 10 students were invited by The University of Sydney to celebrate The National Biomechanics Day. The aim of this event was to increase awareness of and engagement in biomechanics and STEM amongst high school students, with a particular focus of increasing women’s participation in the field. Students were engaged in a variety of activities, exploring the science of human movement and engineering and its application across a number of fields. The girls also had the opportunity to interact with academics and mentors, exploring and learning more about career paths in STEM. This engaging day was not only lots of fun but a wonderful day of discovery and learning for the girls!
