At 5:15 am on Thursday 25 April Cerdon College was represented at the Merrylands RSL ANZAC Dawn Service at Charles Mance Reserve.
The following students represented Cerdon College: Lara Chahin, Angelina E., Annie T., Elise N., Kalliope M., Victoria G., Nora-Lee D., Michelle D., Sarah D., Charlie-Rose E.
The students took part in the march and Lara C. and Angelina E. placed the Cerdon College wreath during the ceremony.
It was a privilege and honour for the girls to represent Cerdon College at this important event. They are a credit to our community and their families. Thank you also to the parents who came along to be part of the ceremony.
Merrylands RSL provided breakfast for all those who participated. We acknowledge and thank them for allowing us to be part of the service. A special thank you to Mr Bridges for co-ordinating the College’s attendance at the ceremony.

Year 10 Commerce Class Debate �In today’s class, our Year 10 students dived into a thought-provoking debate on whether the age of criminal responsibility should be increased. Both sides presented strong arguments, showing great research, teamwork, and critical thinking. It was a fantastic way to explore real-world legal and ethical issues right from the classroom!

Science Excursion On Thursday 21st August 2025 Year 7 students attended Wild Life Sydney Zoo and Sea Life Sydney Aquarium. They explored various habitats of many living things, as well as observing a number of adaptations that the animals have to survive.

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. We remember that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was taken into heaven body and soul by God. The Assumption signals the end of Mary’s earthly life and marks her return to heaven to be reunited with Jesus. As Queen of Heaven, Mary watches over us and prays for us, guiding us to follow her Son with faith, hope, and love. Our Lady, Queen of Heaven, on this Feast of your Assumption, we gather to honour you. Taken into heaven, body and soul, you stand beside your Son in eternal joy. You are our sign of hope and comfort, showing us how to live with faith, hope, and love. Help us to follow Christ in all that we do. Protect us from temptation, guide us to be true witnesses of God’s love, and remind us we are part of His Church. From heaven, watch over us and lead us to love and serve Jesus. On Thursday the 14th of August, the Year 11 college captains attended the 80th anniversary memorial service of Victory in the Pacific, commemorating the end of World War I. Students appreciated the opportunity to learn about the service of men and women in WWII and commemorate such an important historical event.

PDSSSC Tennis Championships Abbey, Lily, Alexia, and Leah all played fantastic games against some tough opponents. We're so proud of the great sportsmanship they showed on the court. While they didn't make it to the finals, they all played with heart. Congrats to Abbey and Lily for winning an impressive four out of their six matches!

Today we celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first saint! Born in Melbourne in 1842, Mary dedicated her life to God through service, education, and care for the poor. In 1866, with Fr. Julian Tenison Woods, she founded the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart, opening schools, orphanages, and refuges for those most in need. Canonised in 2010, St Mary MacKillop reminds us: “Never see a need without doing something about it.”

Girls Programming Network Workshop Last Sunday over twenty students from years 7-11 participated in The Girls Programming Network Workshop at UTS. The workshop focused on the basics of cryptography, including ciphers, encryption techniques and how these are used to secure information in the digital world. Students were engaged in using different cryptographic methods to solve coding challenges, an experience which was not only enriching but lots of fun! ‘ It was exciting to see how math and logic come together in real-world cybersecurity applications. The session helped deepen my interest in computer science and showed me how fun and important programming can be.’ Joanna year 7. Congratulations to all the girls involved!

The Transfiguration of the Lord Today we celebrate the Transfiguration of the Lord. It remembers the moment when Jesus showed His divine glory to three of his disciples Peter, James, and John on Mount Tabor. During this event, recorded in the Gospels, Jesus’ face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appeared with him, and God’s voice declared, “This is my Son, the Chosen One; listen to Him.” This powerful moment revealed Jesus as the Son of God and prepared the disciples for his suffering, death, and resurrection.
