At 5:15 am on Thursday 25 April Cerdon College was represented at the Merrylands RSL ANZAC Dawn Service at Charles Mance Reserve.
The following students represented Cerdon College: Lara Chahin, Angelina E., Annie T., Elise N., Kalliope M., Victoria G., Nora-Lee D., Michelle D., Sarah D., Charlie-Rose E.
The students took part in the march and Lara C. and Angelina E. placed the Cerdon College wreath during the ceremony.
It was a privilege and honour for the girls to represent Cerdon College at this important event. They are a credit to our community and their families. Thank you also to the parents who came along to be part of the ceremony.
Merrylands RSL provided breakfast for all those who participated. We acknowledge and thank them for allowing us to be part of the service. A special thank you to Mr Bridges for co-ordinating the College’s attendance at the ceremony.

Cerdon College was proud to welcome schools from across Sydney for the preliminary round of the UN Youth EVATT Competition. The day showcased the remarkable talent, critical thinking, and diplomacy of students as they stepped into the role of delegates representing members of the United Nations Security Council. It was great to see our girls engaging in a thoughtful and insightful debate, speaking confidently, negotiating resolutions and working collaboratively with other teams. It was also wonderful to welcome back Krista, an ex-student who, after her experiences at Cerdon, is now giving back as part of the UN Youth Staff. Congratulations to the students who participated for their efforts and enthusiasm. We wish you all the very best for the rest of the competition.

Today on the 31st of May, we celebrated the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary set out “in haste” into the hill country, carrying within her the joy of God’s promise. On this Feast of the Visitation (Lk 1:39–42), we remember her journey to Elizabeth and the holy encounter of two mothers - two lives, two promises, one moment of grace. When Mary greets Elizabeth, the child in Elizabeth’s womb leaps for joy, and the Holy Spirit fills the house with praise. In this meeting, Christ is already bringing joy, even before His birth, and God’s plan of salvation begins to unfold in hidden, powerful ways. Mary shows us what it means to listen to God and respond without delay: to carry Jesus not only in her womb, but in her life of service, courage, and love. Her haste is not anxiety, but love in motion, a faith that moves toward others. As we reach the end of May, the month dedicated to Mary, we are invited to learn from her “yes”: to bring Christ into the world through acts of charity, humility, and joyful service. “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” (Lk 1:42) May we, like Mary, carry Christ to others - so that our lives also become a Magnificat of praise.

National Reconciliation Week takes place each year from 27 May to 3 June. It is a time for all Australians to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, reflect on our shared history, and continue building respectful relationships grounded in truth, justice and healing. The 2026 theme, “All In,” calls on all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation each day and to actively take steps to make a difference. Our Cerdon formation goal reminds us that unity means respecting one another. Reconciliation invites us to listen deeply, honour the dignity of every person, and value the stories and experiences of First Nations peoples. The theme "All In" challenges each of us to play our part through our words and actions.

Jeevikaa and Sydney from year 9, were recently invited by the Rotary Club of Holroyd to speak about their experiences at the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) camp earlier this month. The girls delivered an insightful, engaging, and enthusiastic presentation that captivated the audience. They spoke confidently about the friendships they formed, the challenges they overcame, and the valuable life lessons they gained through the experience. The girls had an amazing time and we are very thankful to the Rotary Club of Holroyd for sponsoring this amazing opportunity for our students. #rotaryholroyd #cspd #rypen

On Saturday, two teams representing Cerdon, participated in the UN Youth EVATT Competition, at The University of Technology, Sydney. Modelling the workings of the UN Security Council, the girls debated global issues representing their assigned countries. Congratulations to Tanishka, Marie, Sydney and Mai for their initiative and efforts, and best wishes for the rest of the competition!

Over the weekend a group of students from years 9-11 took part in the Youth Decide Workshop exploring the theme “Democracy Under Pressure -Combatting disinformation, distrust and disengagement."at Reddam House, North Sydney. Students were actively engaged in presentations and thoughtful discussions, exploring the vital role democracy plays in shaping society, protecting freedoms, and encouraging civic responsibility. Congratulations to all the girls who participated and in particular the students who were involved as facillitarors of the event.

Today, we held the second match of the Staff v Year 12 Students Shield, with both teams facing off in soccer. While the staff came away with a 4–1 victory, it was a hard-fought contest with plenty of skill, determination, and great sportsmanship on display throughout the game. It was also fantastic to see so many students from across the school coming out to support and create such a positive atmosphere.

Mia (Year 8) has officially been selected to represent New South Wales in the NSW Development Team at the Australian Pool Life Saving Championships (APLSC) in Perth this June. This is an incredible achievement and a reflection of Mia’s years of dedication, hard work, and commitment to the sport. She has consistently ranked among the top athletes in the state, and this national selection is a well-deserved recognition of all her efforts and perseverance. Mia will travel for the competition and pre-championship training in June.
