The Girls Programming Network Last Sunday, 36 students from years 7-12 joined over 200 students across Sydney to participate in the Girls Programming Network (GPN) Workshop for Term 1 at The University of Technology Sydney. Run by girls, for girls, this inspiring program encourages young women to explore opportunities in STEM. At this event, the girls learnt about Markov Chains and how computers analyse patterns to predict what might come next! The day was filled with engaging activities, games, and plenty of celebrations as participants also marked GPN’s 18th Birthday! Congratulations to all the students who took part…many are already looking forward to the next event!

The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) is a prestigious program for Year 11 students passionate about science and innovation, designed to inspire young people across Australia to explore future careers in STEM. With the support of Rotary, this year, Cerdon College had three students selected to attend the program at the Australian National University in Canberra. During the program, students met leading scientists, engaged in cutting edge research, visited world-class laboratories, and explored a range of scientific fields and career pathways.

The Sydney Morning Herald Schools' Summit Three system leaders joined influential conversations about topical education issues. Executive General Manager - learning Outcomes Patrick Ellis was a panellist for the discussion, "From Potential to Performance: Real stories of Transformation and Sustained Excellence". Cerdon College Merrylands Principal Lisa-Maree Browning was a panellist for the discussion, "Tracking the challenges of delivering quality education in 2026". Cerdon College was recently proud to feature in the NESA Schools Making a Difference List in 2025.

Every Friday at the beginning of lunch, Cerdon students come together to pray the Holy Rosary. It’s a simple yet powerful moment of faith in the middle of a busy school day. When we commit to praying the Rosary regularly and with devotion, something beautiful happens: we begin to grow closer to Christ and turn away from sin. It’s incredible to realise how much grace and heavenly help we can receive from something so simple, and it takes only about fifteen minutes to pray.
