Congratulations to all students who have successfully completed the Python.Comp program for Semester One! This competition challenges students to work through a self-paced program over five weeks, building and refining their coding skills. A special congratulations to those students who have participated in the program for a number of years, advancing through the levels and also acting as mentors to other students. It is fantastic to see such dedication and willingness to give back!

Giving back …. Inspired by regularly attending The Girls Programming Network workshops, several of our students volunteered as mentors at the GPN Junior, a programming workshop for girls in years 5 and 6. The girls assisted students with their programming activities, ran ‘computerless games’ and helped ensure the day ran smoothly. Congratulations to Jasman, Tanishka, Gabriela, Vaishnavi and for taking the initiative and for being such great role models 👏

Over the weekend, Bella in Year 11 attended the 2026 UN Youth State Conference, joining more than 150 students from across NSW to discuss global issues including renewable energy and the governance of critical minerals. Representing the African nation of Djibouti in the UN simulation, Bella advocated for greater financial support for developing countries transitioning to clean energy, proposing resolutions and successfully debating them. The conference provided a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with like-minded students, learn from experts in international law, and broaden her understanding of global challenges.

The Girls Programming Network Last Sunday, 36 students from years 7-12 joined over 200 students across Sydney to participate in the Girls Programming Network (GPN) Workshop for Term 1 at The University of Technology Sydney. Run by girls, for girls, this inspiring program encourages young women to explore opportunities in STEM. At this event, the girls learnt about Markov Chains and how computers analyse patterns to predict what might come next! The day was filled with engaging activities, games, and plenty of celebrations as participants also marked GPN’s 18th Birthday! Congratulations to all the students who took part…many are already looking forward to the next event!

Year 11 orchestrated a mock parliamentary debate on increasing the drinking age to 21. The bill was defeated but there were lots of good arguments for and against.

Today we celebrate the Annunciation, the moment when the Angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:26–38), and everything changed forever. This is the moment of the Incarnation, when Christ took flesh in Mary’s womb. While Christmas celebrates His birth, the Annunciation celebrates the very beginning of His life among us. This solemnity marks the unfolding of God’s perfect plan of salvation. Hidden from the world, yet known for all eternity, this sacred moment reveals God’s profound love for humanity. We also honour Mary’s courageous and faithful “Yes.” Her humility, trust, and openness to God’s will remind us of what it means to live a life of faith. Together we pray: Loving Mother Mary, when the Angel Gabriel came to you with the message that you would be the Mother of Jesus, you listened with humility and trusted in God’s plan. You said “Yes” with courage and faith. Pray for us, that we may also say “Yes” to God in our lives, even when things are uncertain or difficult. Help us to welcome Jesus into our hearts and to share His love with others each day. Mother Mary, pray for us.

700+ Unite for Project Compassion Big Water Walk
More than 700 students and staff from 23 schools across Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) came together for Caritas Australia’s Big Water Walk in support of Project Compassion. Beginning at Parramatta Park, students carried buckets of water along a 4km route, gaining a glimpse of the daily journey faced by people in developing communities, especially women and children, in search of clean water.

What a joyful and hope-filled week at Cerdon College! Harmony Week reminded us of the importance of EVERYONE feeling a true sense of belonging within our Marist family. Through meaningful homeroom and lunchtime activities, our 2026 Formation Goal, Unity is to Respect Each Other, was brought to life in the way our students connected, participated, and supported one another. From prayer and games to “All Things Christ” chats with Mr Zucco, the week built up to our vibrant Friday cultural performances. Our students proudly represented their diverse cultures with energy and courage, cheered on by an incredibly supportive crowd in Chavoin Hall. A special thank you to Mrs Lee and Miss Singleton for their expert work with sound and lighting. The library also came alive thanks to Mrs Wright’s creative and engaging Harmony Week displays. Thank you to all students and staff who made this week such a joyful celebration of unity, respect, and belonging.
